Brian Schmetzer Extremely Pleased with Jordan Morris’ Form

Jordan Morris has been going through a spectacular run of form and he was able to add more goals and assists to his tally from the recent Gold Cup appearances. He has easily been the most valuable player for Seattle alongside Nicolas Lodeiro. Morris has been able to come up with eight goals and six assists. These are some of the best figures around. Among the players who are eligible for USMNT, his return of 14 goals and assists happen to be the third best. The player has been functioning much better with the added confidence and Morris acknowledged the same.

The contribution from Morris was extremely important in Seattle getting victories over Portland Timbers and LA Galaxy. They have helped keep the club in contention for the top spot in the play-off places. LAFC in the top spot of the Western Conference seem too far in terms of advantage and Seattle may have already been left to fight for the second spot alongside the likes of Minnesota and the San Jose Earthquakes. Manager Brian Schmetzer admitted that Morris has been quite dangerous for the opposition. After having suffered an injury hell only 18 months ago, it is a great time for the player to be flying high for Seattle Sounders. It also makes Seattle’s decision to hand him a contract extension look quite good.

“As a forward or winger things come in bunches and stuff happens when you gain confidence. I have some confidence right now and I think playing on the left has helped a little bit,” said Morris. “He’s pretty dangerous. These games [at the end of the season] are certainly up-and-down affairs. Teams are desperate for points and they’re throwing numbers forward and that suits his game,” said Brian Schmetzer after the game against LA Galaxy. Morris certainly has his lucrative years ahead of him.
