Fredy Montero Recalls Fond Memories Ahead of Game against Former Club Seattle

Fredy Montero is looking forward to facing Seattle once again.

The Vancouver Whitecaps forward will have fond memories of his time at Seattle Sounders. He spent four seasons at the club and became the all-time top scorer in the MLS before leaving the club in 2012. After having spent a lot of time at clubs in China, Portugal, and Colombia, he is once again back in the MLS this season. The forward scored his first goal of the season in the win over LA Galaxy a few weeks ago. However, he has witnessed Vancouver Whitecaps going through a terrible run of form with four defeats in the last five matches across all competitions.

Hence, confidence is not high among the Vancouver Whitecaps ranks. Even then a game against his former club will be a special occasion. Seattle Sounders have recovered from the poor start to the season and are unbeaten in the last four games. DEMPSEY’S PRESEASON TRAINING DOUBTFUL

Garth Lagaway, the general manager of Seattle Sounders has said that he is hopeful of Clint Dempsey’s appearance in the opening of the training camp later this month.

Although, he was thoughtful and cautious about the player’s availability due to the forward’s recovery from an irregular heartbeat.

Last August, Clint Dempsey was put aside due to his ailing health. He later came back to the training ground for a short time in September, but when the symptoms came up again, he went off completely for the rest of the season. Dempsey missed the sounders run to the 2016 MLS cup.

Lagerway assured that Dempsey is having good progress to his health condition, and is showing a great attitude to work so far. Ever since, efforts have been made to get Dempsey ready for the training camp. The Sounders forward was seen training on the side in the days following to the club’s win over Toronto FC in the MLS Cup finals. Continue reading “DEMPSEY’S PRESEASON TRAINING DOUBTFUL”

BRISBANE KEEN ON ROBBIE KEANE

Brisbane Roar is quite keen on bringing MLS player, Robbie Keane to the A-League.

This however could put a squeeze to things as the team also hopes to retain their star striker, Jamie Maclaren.

Roar recently confirmed their interest in the Irish Veteran and have high hopes of bringing him to the A League. This has thus brought the hopes of re-signing Maclaren for another season at the end of the 2016-17 MLS Football season to an impasse.

Paddy Dominguez, the agent for the 23-year old had said the recent multiyear offer made by the club to the player was way below expectations. Dominguez, in an interview with News Corp Australia said,

“It’s a disgusting offer. He’d be the lowest paid of any of the top strikers in the MLS Football A-League.”

Keane had previously won three MLS Cup titles in Unites States after having left LA Galaxy. Brisbane would be making an effort and putting forward a proposal with the hopes of luring the striker into their folds.

Mark Kingsman, Roar’s managing director had told Fairfax Media while speaking with them about the player,
“When you’ve got somebody of Robbie Keane’s calibre and pedigree, I’m sure every A-League club would be interested. But we haven’t made an approach yet.We will make the call.”

Keane, 36, will be looking to continue his playing career. The prolific striker had scored 80 goals in the English Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur and a total of 101 goals for the Galaxy in all competitions.

For Jamie Maclaren, he has had quite an impressive season, one which has seen him emerge as the A-League’s best Australian striker, having score 20 goals last season. He earned his second Socceroos cap earlier this month and falls a little short of Bruno Fornaroli, who took home the golden boot.

The head coach of LA Galaxy, Bruce Arena confirmed that Steven Gerrard will not be able to perform against Houston Dynamo and the manager himself does not know when Gerrard is going to be able to return to the pitch and he might even miss out from the remainder of the season which only has 2 league matches remaining.
