CHICAGO FIRE END TRANSFER SAGA FOR DEFENDER

The long transfer saga between MLS side, Chicago Fire and Polish top division side Gornik Zabrze over the transfer of right-back, Sekulic, have finally come to an end, with Chicago Fire Fc getting their man.

The transfer has been going on for over a month, but it can be said there’s finally a happy ending for Chicago fire.

Chicago Fire have been in the market for a reputable right back to cover for the deficiency in the right-back position. They have identified Sekulic as the right candidate but negotiation has been very difficult with Gornik.

The Slovakian was very keen to move to the MLS but the asking price for the player has out Chicago on very thin edge during negotiation.

The Slovakian played his last match for Gornik in their 2-0 win over Arka Gdynia. He started the match from right-back position and played the entire duration of the match in a match that stands as a farewell to the fans of Gornik from a player who has served the club well.

He will be on a contract till 2022 with Chicago fire and as soon he is registered with the Leagues body he will join the rest of his new teammates before the beginning of the new MLS season.

Thé 28-year-old Sekulic arrives a seasoned performer and full international with so much experience, he has over 280 appearances in stints in Serbia, Slovakia and Poland.

He joined Górnik Zabrze in 2019, and since then he’s made more than 30 appearances and scored two goals. Internationally, Sekulić has two caps for the Slovakia National Team, after becoming a Slovakian citizen in 2017. He was born in Serbia.
