WILF FAMILY STRENGTHENS NASHVILLE’S MLS FRANCHISE BID

After failing to bring Major League Soccer to the Twin Cities state of Minnesota, Real Estate titans Mark Wilf and his brother Zygi together with their cousin Leonard Wilf has joined the franchise bidding team of Nashville.

The Wilfs lost out on the earlier bidding of who gets the nod to join MLS next season as BillMcGuire’s Los Angelessqueaked through MLS board’s scrutiny. The Real Estate moneybags however do not appear to back down from earning a seat at the high boards of an MLS franchise squad and appear to have turned their ship towards the Music City.

Nashville is one of the 12 cities vying for the four spots on the offing from MLS chief Don Garber and his team. In a list that includes Sacramento, Cincinnati, San Diego, Phoenix, San Antonio as well as St. Louis, Detroit, Tampa, Charlotte, Raleigh/Durham, N.C., and Indianapolis, bringing franchise soccer to the capital city of Tennessee was always going to be arduous.

Despite the seemingly steep mountain standing between Nashvillians and a professional soccer team to call their own, the arrival of the Wilf Family will most definitely increase their chances of being one of the anointed four.

Asserting the magnitude of the boost, Nashville CEO John Ingram rightly pointed out that the Wilf brothers “know sports and sports business, and they are well-known and respected for their professional sports experience. [They] bring expertise in a number of areas like stadium development, fan experience, marketing, communications and ticket sales. They are a strong addition.”

With this news and backing from Ingram, the citizens of Nashville will likely retire to their beds with better hopes than they felt a few weeks ago. Their chances are well up in the green.
