Seattle Sounders have been able to increase the versatility in the squad by trading Handwalla Bwana to Nashville SC.Bwana recently made a request to be traded and this has resulted in Jimmy Medranda coming the opposite way. Seattle Sounders will be able to make a greater use ofthe new asset, as Medranda is particularly versatile whileBwana did not feature much towards the latter end of his Seattle days. There are also reports that Sounders might receive an allocation money.Bwana has not featured for Seattle in the last nine matches. GM Garth Lagerwey made the call to Nashville and made the best offer forMedranda.

Brian Schmetzer claimed after the announcement that he would have liked to keepBwana. However, since the player does not want to stay at the club where he has found opportunities limited, it is best to look at alternatives. Medranda’s versatility seems to have been one of the first attractions for Seattle. The Colombian has been playing in the MLS for the last eight seasons. He has featured in multiple midfield positions during this period. The Colombian was also seen as a crucial contributor for the Sporting Kansas City outfit. Apart from contributing going forward, the 26-year-old is also quite good defensively. The lack of much playing time due to injuries in the recent few months might be a concern.

Major Soccer League, the professional league for soccer in the United States of America, has taken the initiative to raise awareness and raise funds for the battle against childhood cancer. As part of its social responsibility, MLS has joined hands with Continental Tire for this purpose.


The effort will help raise awareness about the deadly disease among children. Besides, it will also help in the fight against childhood cancer during the current pandemic times. Children are one of the most affected sections of the population affected by the Coronavirus. Realizing their responsibility Major League Soccer will provide support to the most vulnerable section of society.

NBA STAR DURANT JOINS MLS OWNERSHIP

 

NBA star Kevin Durant shocked many when his ownership stake in Major League Soccer (MLS) club Philadelphia Union was announced. The Brooklyn Nets forward announced a 5% ownership stake in the club with an option of an extra 5% in the future. Durant has even mentioned he plans to own NFL side Washington Redskins as part of his retirement plans.


Durant said he has always been a soccer fan and wanted to get into the business properly. He was attracted by the people at the club, the vision for a partnership amongst other factors. While he would not be at the games now, he would be active in the community – Chester and Philadelphia – so he can give back.

ARSENAL CONFIDENT ON CEBALLOS DEAL

Arsenal are confident that they can reach a compromise with Real Madrid to extend midfielder Dani Ceballos’ loan deal past June 30. Should the Premier League season run beyond that mark, although no formal talks have yet taken place between the club’s, but the Gunners are confident that common sense will prevail.

The Premier league 2019-2020 is on hold, and the return date which was set to 3rd of April was further pushed to 30th of April. It is unknown when the league will return and as things stand, the league will run till late in the summer. By then the loan deal for Dani Ceballos will be over. The Spanish international joined the club last summer on a season long loan, which will end by 30th of June.
